'BarryFunVocabulary' is a great tool for introducing and practicing new vocabulary with your ESL students. Upload your own images or choose from over 80 different categories, and more than 1200 of the most important vocabulary words that ESL students need to learn. This tool is excellent for classrooms with multimedia capabilities.
When displayed on a large TV or using a projector, students are able to easily see the picture, hear an audio file, and learn the spelling for the new vocabulary words they are studying.
You are first given a list of each of the new words that you will be introducing to your students. You can use this screen to practice the students reading and also to review the spelling of each word.
As you click the 'Next' button, each vocabulary word will be displayed with a picture and audio clip. You can hear the audio clip again by clicking the image.
This is very useful to have the students listen and repeat as a first time introduction to each new word.
Once the students have become more familiar with the words, you can turn off the sound and hide the written word.
You can then show the students the images again and drill them with the new words that they have learned.
